Collection: Bratabandha

Bratabandha (also spelled Bratabandhana) is a traditional Hindu ceremony in the communities of Nepal and some regions of India. It signifies a rite of passage for young boys, marking their transition into manhood. It is equivalent to the Upanayana ceremony in other Hindu traditions. During this sacred ritual, the young boy wears a special thread, symbolizing his entrance into the world of study, responsibility, and tradition. The ceremony involves various rituals, including the symbolic shaving of hair (known as Mundan), guided mantra chanting, and offerings to the fire god, Agni. The event is graced with the presence of family, close friends, and community members. The young boy then embarks on his journey of learning and spirituality, guided by the Vedic teachings and family values.
